Filmmakers Jamie Howell

Evans and Howell worked for two years on the independently produced film, “Broken Limbs: Apples, Agriculture and the New American Farmer,” handling every element of the production right down to composing and performing the music for the soundtrack. Their ultimate goal is to help change how people think about food and farming.

Howell’s background is in journalism and music. Before becoming a freelance writer, he worked as a reporter and editor for many local and regional newspaper and online publications. He currently writes a popular weekly column that appears in seven newspapers around Washington State, and has recorded two CDs as songwriter and front man for the acoustic rock band, Fathappy. He is now continuing full-time in documentary filmmaking.

Evans has worked as a freelance videographer, establishing Deep Water Creations in 1999. His work includes oral history recordings for the Lake Chelan Historical Society, a 40-minute reunion video honoring Vietnam POW’s, and most recently, a 20-minute historical documentary produced for the region’s daily newspaper, The Wenatchee World. Evans is a poet and musician as well. He is now working to start an operational farm, retreat and agricultural educational center in Chelan, Wash.
